SALEM, Ind. (April 7, 2009) -  Chris Buescher headed to Salem Speedway this past weekend to make his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut under the guidance of Gary Roulo and with support from David Ragan.  Buescher is a friend of Ragan's from back when he ran legends cars.  Then Buescher was a good competitor on the track and the two have been friends since then.  With a mentor like David Ragan and a proven ARCA team like Roulo Brothers Racing, Buescher was bound to have the promising debut that he had.

Buescher hit the track Saturday afternoon for practice and had his No. 17 Ford in the top 10 the entire session.  When it came time to qualify Buescher made his way around the .555-mile track fast enough to start ninth out of the 31-car field.

From the drop of the green flag Sunday afternoon, Buescher settled into the top 10 and remained there for the first 20 laps, until a he made contact with the slow running car in front of him.  The contact brought out the first caution of the day.  The damage was minimal and crew chief Gary Roulo left Buescher on the track for the restart.

Buescher held strong in the top 10 until the next caution came out and he had his first opportunity to pit.  Roulo called Buescher down pit road for a two-tire stop.  His over-the-wall crew did an excellent job and gained him four spots on pit road.  Buescher restarted sixth and started lapping cars.

Things were going well until the No. 25 got into the back of Buescher's Ford.  The contact wasn't enough to bring out the caution, but did cost Buescher a few spots on the track.  He quickly regrouped and charged back towards the front.

Under caution with 60 laps to go Buescher came in for his final pit stop.  Roulo gave him four fresh tires and sent him on his way.  Buescher restarted 12th and was up to fourth when the rain came with 20 laps to go.  Not even rain could slow down the race, the track stayed green and the race continued.  The rain made it hard to see and Buescher made contact with the fence, but was able to keep going and earn a fourth-place finish in his first-ever ARCA RE/MAX Series event.

"We ran really well all day," said Buescher after the race.  "I feel extremely lucky to come out of my first race, especially Salem, with a fourth-place finish.  I'm really proud to be affiliated with Roulo Bros Racing and David Ragan Inc.  I had a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to Toledo."

Crew Chief Gary Roulo on Chris Buescher's first ARCA RE/MAX Series race:

"We are all very proud of Chris today" commented Gary Roulo. "Salem is one of the fastest and toughest short tracks in the country and Chris was up for the challenge.  We had a good weekend.  Thanks to everyone at Roush Fenway and in the Roush Yates Engine shop."

David Ragan on Chris Buescher's first ARCA RE/MAX Series race:

"Chris definitely surpassed the goals we were hoping for in his first start," said Ragan.  "The goal was to gain some experience and I think that was definitely achieved.  He shows a lot of promise for a 16-year old.  It was a great finish and I expect more to come out of him."

Chris Buescher's next ARCA RE/MAX Series start will be at Toledo Speedway on Sunday, May 17th.
