(SOUTH PARK, Pa. – December 29, 2013) – Chris Bailey Jr. realized a dream earlier this month when he was able to get behind the wheel and take laps at Daytona International Speedway during the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards test session.
“I can’t thank Bill and Kimmel Racing enough,” said the South Park, PA resident. “They are great people, like family really! I’m so excited to be working with them again in 2014.”
Bailey, 24, finished 19th in the final ARCA Racing Series point standings in 2013. He went to Daytona unsure of his testing plans, but was able to climb into the cockpit of the No. 69 Kimmel Racing machine. The 2010 ARCA Truck Series champion got to work with Kimmel, primary driver Will Kimmel, 16-year-old Michael Lira and Mark Gibson, former ARCA winner and brother of Danica Patrick crew chief Tony Gibson, who did some crew chief duties.
On Sunday, both Bailey and Lira shared driving duties and were able to draft with each other. Will Kimmel led the three with a top speed of 182.386, 26th in the overall speed list. Lira’s top lap was 180.335 and Bailey was right behind him at 180.260.
Bailey is hoping to secure a ride with Kimmel Racing for the Feb. 15 ARCA race at Daytona. He and his family and others are actively seeking sponsorship for the race. All serious inquiries can be made to Bailey at email@example.com or Kevin Schwarze at firstname.lastname@example.org.
