(SALEM, Ind. - October 30, 2011) - Kenzie Ruston, who competed in four ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards events this year for Venturini Motorsports, has committed to a full schedule for the 2012 ARCA CRA Super Series season. Ruston will aim to become the series' first champion following the new partnership between ARCA and CRA.Ruston, 20, finished in the top 10 in ARCA events at Toledo Speedway and Berlin Raceway this summer, and won a CRA Super Series event at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis earlier this month. Her victory made her the first female to qualify fastest and win a feature event in the super late model series.
"The CRA Series is a great series and we feel at home racing with such a great staff and group of drivers," said Ruston, who competes out of Mooresville, N.C. "Each week that we show up to the track they make it a point to come over and make sure to say hello and you don’t get that with a lot of series and tracks. R. J. (Scott, series co-owner) and Glenn (Luckett, series co-owner) have built a great group of officials and I enjoy working with those guys, so we are really looking forward to competing every week and hopefully we can do exactly what we are aiming to do, and that is win."
ARCA's sanction of the ARCA CRA Super Series will begin with the 2012 season, ARCA's 60th year of racing competition. Founded in 1997, the CRA Super Series is a super late model stock car racing series based in Salem, Ind.
The sanctioning agreement between ARCA and CRA is a natural step forward after over a decade of affiliation on the track. Toledo Speedway, one of ARCA's two short track properties, has hosted 12 CRA Super Series events since August 4, 2000, when Harold Fair Jr. won on the half-mile oval near the Ohio/Michigan border.
The partnership will provide participants in the CRA Super Series with ARCA member benefits, including Participant Accident Insurance. ARCA will provide public relations, race operations, and marketing support to its new formal partner, while building an already strong developmental racing base.
ARCA officials also announced this summer that the agreement will give CRA Super Series champions and the Rookie of the Year, as well as the ARCA Gold Cup late model champion, the opportunity to test an ARCA Racing Series car in the open test at Daytona International Speedway in December 2011 and 2012. Andy Hillenburg's Fast Track High Performance Driving School, the Official Driving School of ARCA and the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, will provide the test car. The commitment allows drivers to develop skills within the united framework of CRA and ARCA.
