(JOLIET, Ill. – July 17, 2014) -- Frank Kimmel will return to Chicagoland (Ill.) Speedway for the 14th consecutive year in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards this weekend.
Over the last 13 seasons, Kimmel has recorded a win, six top-five, 11 top-10 finishes, and one pole. In last year’s Ansell ActivArmr 150, Kimmel qualified in fifth-place and crossed the finish line in the ninth position.
“I’m looking forward to getting back to Chicago. In the past, I’ve had success at the track – won a race, a pole, and finished inside the top-10 a lot,” Kimmel said.
The iconic colors of Ansell-Menards will adorn the sides of Kimmel’s Toyota for the entire 2014 ARCA Racing Series season. In addition, Ansell, the world’s largest manufacturer of protective gloves and clothing, sponsors this Saturday’s race at Chicagoland. The ActivArmr line includes gloves fit for every challenge, designed specifically for the unique needs of construction trades.
“Ansell will have a lot of folks at the track this weekend and I expect us to put on a great show for them,” Kimmel said.
Win-Tron Racing will bring Chassis No. 18 to Chicagoland Speedway. This is the same chassis Kimmel utilized at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway and Michigan International Speedway earlier this season. Kimmel recorded seventh-place finishes at both of those respective events.
“Our team brought home two seventh-place finishes at Pocono and Michigan earlier this season, and hopefully we will be able to improve even more in Chicago,” Kimmel said.
Two weeks ago in the Herr’s Chase The Taste 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Winchester Speedway, a late-race caution forced the field to return to green flag conditions with less than 10 laps remaining. After running consistently inside the top-six, Kimmel received contact from behind and was sent into the inside wall. The Ansell-Menards team made repairs on pit road and Kimmel continued on to finish in the ninth position.
Fans will have three opportunities to meet Kimmel in and around the Chicago area this week. On Thursday, July 17, Kimmel will be at the Menards store in Tinley Park, IL from 4-5:30PM, before traveling to the Matteson, IL Menards store from 6:30-8PM. On Friday, July 18, Kimmel will join fellow ARCA drivers to sign autographs at Chicagoland Speedway from 6-7PM.
The green flag for the Ansell ActivArmr 150 at Chicagoland Speedway will wave shortly after 6 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 19, with live television coverage on FOX Sports 2. ARCARacing.com will also have live timing and scoring throughout the entire weekend.
