(CHARLOTTE, N.C. - July 10, 2012) - Matt Lofton will return to the site of his first ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards outing with Coulter Motorsports in Friday's Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway.
Marking the 11th stop of the season, Iowa Speedway brings a renewed sense of normalcy back to the tour after the unfamiliar left and right hand turns of the New Jersey Motorsports Park road course nine days ago.
Lofton (No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet) has several starts at the 0.875-mile oval, including his debut with Coulter Motorsports last year, when he started sixth before a blown tire ended his day. Lofton has three Iowa starts in the CARS Pro Cup Series, including a fourth-place finish in 2009. The Newton, Iowa facility, which opened in 2006, has hosted the ARCA Racing Series every year since that opening, so Friday's race will be ARCA's seventh at the track.
Coulter Motorsports will bring chassis No. 017 for Friday night's battle. No. 017 last ran to an impressive fifth-place finish at Winchester Speedway and second place at Elko Speedway. Lofton also plans to spend time with his Coulter Motorsports teammate Joey Coulter, who is racing in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event Saturday at the "Rusty Wallace Signature Track."
"Iowa (Speedway) is such a unique and fun track to race at and I am really excited to be heading there this weekend," said Lofton. "I have found a good amount of success at the short track that races like a speedway and based off my initial run with my Coulter Motorsports team last year I know we will have a fast Strutmasters.com Chevy."
Practice will take place from 10:30-noon and 1-2 p.m. Friday, just before Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell at 4:30 p.m. The Prairie Meadows 200 will air live on SPEED at 8 p.m. All times are Central. ARCARacing.com will feature live timing and scoring coverage of all on-track activity.
