(MARNE, Mich. - August 11, 2012) - Erik Jones, who will make his fourth Berlin Raceway start of 2012 tonight in the Berlin ARCA 200 presented by Hantz Group, drove the fastest lap in the opening practice this afternoon.
The 16-year-old Jones (No. 55 Paragon Corvette Reproductions/CG Financial Services Chevrolet) drove his best of 42 laps in 17.235 seconds (91.488 mph) to top Chad Hackenbracht and Chase Elliott atop the list of 28 cars that attempted laps. Jones, of nearby Byron, Mich., has also competed in two ARCA CRA Super Series races at Berlin this year, as well as another CRA event just one week ago.
Hackenbracht drove a 17.284-second lap, with Elliott third at 17.459 seconds. Title contenders Alex Bowman, Frank Kimmel, and Brennan Poole filled out the fourth through sixth positions.
Chris Buescher, who is second to Poole in points, finished the session 16th. For full results from the opening practice session, click here.
Final practice will begin at 3:15 p.m., and ARCA Racing Network hosts Charlie Krall and Tim Clagg will deliver bonus live audio coverage of the session in advance of their call for tonight's race.
