(OREGON, Wis. - August 25, 2012) - The top four drivers in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards standings have all won at one or more of the tracks remaining on the 2012 schedule, and several drivers stand out in their own way.
Of course, Frank Kimmel is the leading winner of that group, with 16 wins at Salem (nine), DuQuoin (five), and Kansas (two). But only one driver is a past winner at Madison International Speedway, and this weekend he'll line up looking to win at the track for the second time with a second team.
Before winning at Kansas last October and Salem this year, Alex Bowman made his ARCA debut at Madison last August with Venturini Motorsports. He started fourth and took the lead from Tim George Jr. on Lap 142, holding the point the rest of the way to win in his first start.
Now with Cunningham Motorsports, the team that has helped him to three wins and fourth place in points, Bowman is back at Madison and looking for a series-leading fourth win of 2012. When practice starts today at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. local), Bowman will lead a group of five of the top six finishers from last year's race who return to southern Wisconsin this season.
From that race, runner-up Chris Buescher and third-place finisher Clint King return this year, as do Tom Hessert (fifth) and Frank Kimmel (sixth). Buescher leads Kimmel by 15 points in the series standings, with Brennan Poole and Bowman further behind.
Practice for Sunday's Herr's Live Life with Flavor 200 on the half-mile oval will take place from 1-1:45 p.m. and 2:15-3 p.m. today, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at 4:30 p.m.
All times are Central. ARCARacing.com will feature live timing and scoring coverage throughout the day.
Thirty cars are on the entry list, including 12 Chevrolets, nine Fords, five Toyotas, and four Dodges. The listed drivers represent 16 states and Venezuela.
