(KANSAS CITY, Kan. - October 18, 2012) - Matt Lofton is no stranger to the newly-repaved Kansas Speedway.
Lofton and his No. 16 Strutmasters.com/Coulter Motorsports Chevrolet team are at the track for tomorrow's ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season finale, the Kansas Lottery 98.9, and the team is also familiar with the track.
Lofton last visited the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval October 2, when the series held its annual open test session for teams. Throughout the test session, Lofton worked closely with crew chief Clyde "Skip" Eyler and veteran NASCAR racer Kelly Bires to continuously improve on the No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet. Lofton posted the 10th fastest time overall at 30.175 seconds with a top speed of 178.956 mph, a lap that surpassed the 2008 track qualifying record.
Kansas Speedway was the site of Lofton's second career start with his Coulter Motorsports team in 2011, when he triumphantly worked his way through the field to earn a hard-fought sixth-place finish. Lofton also has one other start at the facility in 2010, his first career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start.
Before heading to the speedway Friday for a jam-packed day of racing action, Lofton will be visiting with fans and signing autographs at the local Kansas City, Kan., Cabela's tonight from 6-7 p.m. before heading next door to the Great Wolf Lodge for a meet and greet at 7 p.m. Both locations are just outside the track property.
Practice for the Kansas Lottery 98.9 will take place from 9-11:15 a.m. Friday, with Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell following at 5:35 p.m. The 99-lap, 148.5-mile Kansas Lottery 98.9 will start at 7:30 p.m. All listed times are Central.
ARCARacing.com will feature live timing and scoring coverage of all on-track activity, and SPEED will air the race live to a national audience.
