(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - February 14, 2013) - Officials from ARCA and Kimberly-Clark announced today that SCOTTŪ Brand products will sponsor the 2013 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Rookie of the Year awards program.
The SCOTTŪ Rookie Challenge will kick off this weekend with the Lucas Oil 200 presented by Menards at Daytona International Speedway. It's the 50th annual ARCA Racing Series event at Daytona and will be televised live on SPEED, starting at 4:30 p.m. ET.
First-year ARCA competitors will compete for per-race cash bonus awards and the year-end SCOTTŪ Rookie Challenge bonus of $10,000.
"We are excited to partner with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, and honored to sponsor the SCOTTŪ Rookie Challenge for the series," said Heather Richmond, Kimberly-Clark Customer Marketing Manager for the Hardware, Home Improvement and Paint channel. "Menards carries our SCOTTŪ Brand products in a variety of departments -- such as paint, automotive and household paper goods. We are excited to launch an array of new products such as SCOTTŪ 1000 bath tissue and SCOTTŪ PRO Rags in a box at Menards this year. Working together to reach SCOTTŪ brand consumers in the ARCA Racing Series is a natural fit."
Last season, Alex Bowman edged Brennan Poole by four points in the rookie chase, winning the season finale at Kansas Speedway to secure the rookie of the year award. Bowman is competing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series this season. Drivers like Benny Parsons, the late Davey Allison, Frank Kimmel and Bobby Gerhart are past ARCA rookies of the year who went on to successful stock car careers.
"Many ARCA Racing Series rookies have turned success in the ARCA series into success into other racing series," said Mark Gundrum, vice-president of business development and corporate partnerships for ARCA. "We are proud to have the SCOTTŪ Brand aligned with those drivers and the next group of young stars as they rise in their careers."
To help kickoff the 2013 awards program, ARCA Racing Series rookies Justin Boston, Mason Mingus, Ricky Ehrgott and Kyle Larson were introduced to the media soon after Friday's qualifying.
Kimberly-Clark and it's SCOTTŪ Brand products are new to the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards racing program. In addition to the SCOTTŪ Rookie Challenge, Scott has become an ARCA Racing Series official sponsor and will be announced later this season as the title sponsor of an ARCA Racing Series event in 2013.
