(KANSAS CITY – Oct. 4, 2013) – John Wes Townley zoomed to
the top of the speed charts at Kansas Speedway Friday and will be among those
expected to challenge for the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell later
Townley, Dylan Kwasniewski (second) and Justin Boston (fifth)
gave Venturini Motorsports three of the top five cars during the 9-11:15 a.m.
practice session. The Kansas Lottery 98.9 is scheduled to go green at 7:30 p.m.
CT tonight and be live on Fox Sports 1. Townley, in the No. 15 Zaxby's Toyota, won the pole for the
season-opening ARCA race at Daytona International Speedway, a race that he also
won. His best lap at Kansas today was 176.056 mph.
Kwasniewski, in the No. 55 Royal Purple-Rockstar Energy
Toyota, is making his ARCA Racing Series debut. Boston, driver of the No. 25
ZLOOP Computer & Recycling Toyota, is leading the SCOTT Rookie Challenge
standings and is tied for the most Menards Pole Awards entering the Kansas
Lottery 98.9 event.
Chad Boat was third in the list of best practice speeds in
his No. 84 Billy Boat Performance Exhaust Toyota.
There were a few minor instances during the practice
session. Mason Mitchell in the No. 82 Happy Cheeks Ford brushed the wall, as
did Corey LaJoie in the No. 17 Uncle John’s Pride Smoked Sausage Ford. LaJoie
was fourth-fastest in practice.
Frank Kimmel, in the No. 44 Ansell-Menards Toyota, turned 60
laps in practice. All he needed to do was one lap to clinch his unprecedented 10th
ARCA Racing Series championship. He now has accumulated enough points to secure
his season point championship – his first since 2007.
Thirty-two cars are entered in the Kansas Lottery 98.9.
