(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – December 18, 2013) – Cunningham Motorsports
will bring three Dodge Chargers and four drivers to Daytona International
Speedway this weekend for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards test.
Testing begins Friday and goes into Sunday.
Austin Wayne Self, from Austin, Texas, will see the 2.5-mile
superspeedway for his first time.
Self entered six ARCA Series races with the Cunningham
during the 2013 season, with a best finish of second at Winchester
Speedway. In addition, Self ran five
NASCAR K&N Pro Series East/West races.
Tom Hessert will return to Daytona International Speedway
for the seventh time. Hessert comes into
this season with three ARCA Series victories – Iowa Speedway in 2010 and
back-to-back wins at Salem Speedway in 2012 and 2013. His career best at
Daytona is a sixth-place finish in 2008.
Filling out Cunningham’s test driver line-up will be Shannon
McIntosh and Tyler Reddick.
The test will be the first foray into the ARCA stock cars
for McIntosh after most recently driving in the USF 2000 National Championship
Series. She tested at Motor Mile
Speedway in November with the Cunningham team.
Tyler Reddick ran the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds 1-mile dirt
track last season (qualifying third), before posting the top speed at the test
at Kansas Speedway during the preparation for the season finale at the 1.5 mile
About 70 drivers are entered in the three day test and will
have the opportunity for single car runs, with limited drafting from each day
beginning on Friday. ARCARacing.com will
have live timing and scoring from the test.
The teams will return to the Daytona International Speedway
in February, when the series makes its 51st visit to the high-banked speedway
to kick off not only the ARCA Racing Series 2014 season, but also Speedweeks.
