MOORESVILLE NC (7-7-09) - Andy Belmont Racing (ABR) announced today that Slatington, Pennsylvania driver Kory Rabenold has aligned with ABR to drive the remaining 12 ARCA RE/MAX Series events in 2009 beginning with the Prairie Meadows 200 at Iowa Speedway Saturday, July 11.
ABR driver Kevin Belmont has stepped aside to provide this opportunity for Rabenold.
"Kevin did a great job running for us with consistent finishes and bringing the car home in one piece," said team manager Andy Belmont.
"Fortunately for us Kevin understands the family business and why we needed to make this move. Kevin will continue working with the team as part of the crew, spotting, doing our graphics with his KB Letterin' business and filling in as he always has. This is one of the great things about ARCA that the world needs to know; it's still a family business."
Rabenold first ran for ABR in 2007 when Dominick Casola needed relief in the Governor's Cup 200 at the Milwaukee Mile. After retiring his own car on lap 76 of the 200 lap event, Rabenold was asked by Belmont to relieve Casola for the remainder of the race. Despite losing a number of laps during the driver switch, Rabenold still brought the ABR number 1 home to a 24th place finish.
"I'm very excited to be teaming up with Andy and his team for the remainder of the season," said Rabenold. "When I ran for ABR at the Milwaukee Mile back in 2007 I quickly discovered how fierce of a competitor Andy is; he is very driven. I truly believe that with Andy's knowledge and my experience we can produce great results."
While Rabenhold has never raced at Iowa he has great confidence that he will adjust quickly with the coaching of Belmont.
"Andy has coached many drivers over the years in the ARS that have since moved on to NASCAR so I have great confidence in him and what he has to offer."
Rabenold made 10 career ARCA RE/MAX Series starts in 2007 and 2008 driving for his own family-run program. He finished a career-best 12th at Pocono Raceway in 2007. The 20-year-old driver cut his teeth in the Modified ranks at Mahoning Valley Speedway in Lehighton, PA where he has eight starts this year earning one win among six top-five finishes. Rabenold plans to run the Terry Zacharias-owned no. 63 Modified for special races when the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule allows.
