(BROOKLYN, Mich. - June 7, 2010) - When the Air Lift Company was founded 60 years ago, its first promotional activity was the sponsorship of some of the earliest pioneers of sanctioned stock car racing, including NASCAR's Lee Petty and six-time ARCA champion Iggy Katona (above/right).
Today, Air Lift Company announces a return to stock car racing with a marketing partnership in which the Air Lift logo will makes its way back to big league stock car racing via the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards. Air Lift is proud to announce that it will serve in an associate sponsorship role with the No. 29 Brad Keselowski Racing (BKR)-prepared Chevrolet of 18-year-old Lansing, Michigan driver Chad Finley for this Friday's (June 11) running of the Racing For Wildlife 200 at Michigan Int'l Speedway.
In addition, Auto Value Certified Service Centers will continue with Finley as title sponsor for the effort.
"To get the chance to race in front of our hometown fans and sponsors will be awesome," said Finley. "All the folks from Auto Value will be there as well as the Air Lift Company folks. Want to thank Air Lift for coming on board for this race.
I understand there's a ton of history with them in the ARCA series as well as in NASCAR. We want to represent them well and give them the exposure they deserve. We have a new car for this race and the BKR guys are real pumped up about it, and that alone makes me very hungry to get into victory lane."
Finley, a second generation ARCA driver himself, is coming off a career-best superspeedway finish of third Saturday at Pocono Raceway.
"Pocono was very unique. The three different corners are very challenging and keeps you up on the wheel every lap," explained Finley after his podium run in the Keystone State.
"We had a good car and I can't thank the BKR guys enough. Never seeing this place before and qualifying fourth is all about them giving me good cars and our PME engines are just outstanding.
"We were going to try and get them on fuel mileage at the end until that last caution. We had enough fuel to go the distance. That would have been big. We were just way too tight to get them in that last five lap sprint. Proud of every one though. Can't wait for MIS. We're getting there. Patience is a tough deal but I feel we will get there soon."
Finley, who turned 18 on March 17th, is now eligible to compete on superspeedways - thus the opportunity to race at Texas and Pocono already this year and on Michigan's two-mile superspeedway oval this Friday.
"MIS will be a ton of fun for me. So many people to thank as we get started this week leading to MIS, Northsidetowing.net, Autoparts2020.com, Piazzanos.com and Baysidekeylargo.com. Without these supporters it would not be possible for me to be where I am. Of course Brad Keselowski; he has been there for me every step of the way. He has become a good friend as well as the boss. MIS is our home state track and hopefully we can improve two spots from Pocono."
About Air Lift:
The early Grand National cars, including the famed "Air Lift Special," raced on the sand at Daytona Beach, and found the Winners Circle at Darlington.
Adjustable air springs were the first approved adjustable suspensions in stock car racing. By the 1970s, Air Lift adjustable suspensions were banned, with the claim the Air Lift teams had an "unfair advantage". Now, of course, all stock car racers have adjustable suspensions. Today, Air Lift makes adjustable air suspension for load support in pickup trucks, SUVs and vans, and produces a line of Lifestyle and Performance air suspension for muscle cars and sport compacts. The company markets adjustable load support air springs and full air suspension kits to the automotive aftermarket worldwide from its plant and offices in Lansing, Michigan. This spring, ground was broken for an addition to the building which will nearly double the manufacturing and warehouse capacity. (Above: ARCA driver Clyde Parker also carried the Air Lift logo on his stock cars)
Air Lift sponsorship of the 29 car is a celebration of the company's 60 years in business, an acknowledgement of its racing heritage, and a tribute to its success. Air Lift Company is the premier global supplier and manufacturer of aftermarket air suspension products.
