(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 9, 2012) -
A good crowd ventured
to Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night for the Lakeshore Utility Trailer Sales
Kids Night. Each child to age 14 was
admitted free of charge and received a free hot dog, chips and a drink,

and Herr’s Potato Chips. Jerry Lee, Rich
Frantz, Rich Abel and Jeff Wells Jr. captured feature event wins.
scored the “daily double” on the weekend, via his first-ever win at Toledo
Speedway Friday and then capping things off by leading every lap Saturday night
to win the 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature race. “The General” scooted out to a 5 car margin
over the pack early on, but Jeremy Miller and Jeremy Vanderhoof reeled in Lee
with about 8 laps to go. The duo got to
the bumper of Lee, but he maintained his lead on the way to the win. Miller was second, Vanderhoof third, Gary
Cronenwett closed in late and grabbed fourth, while Billy Earley was
fifth. Greg Studt, Dennis Whisman, Scott
Apperson, Steve Chartrand and Sam Hall rounded out the top ten in the all-green
flag event that featured wild intersection action lap after lap! Earley posted quick time at 20:878. Miller and Hall notched the heat race wins.
The first 19
laps of the ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main went off
without a yellow, with good racing action as the 23 car field battled for
position. Early leader Darrell Krause
waged a good side by side battle with Scott Selmi for much of the event. Krause bobbled going into turn 1 and Rich
Frantz, who was in third, slipped by to grab the point. With 2 laps to go, Krause tangled with Dave
Tanner, who had taken over third spot and the duo spun entering turn 2. With much of the track blocked and the field
bearing down, a wild accident ensued which sent Terry Lilley, Rob Moore and
Randy Cornett into the wall. Dennis
Whisman slid into the mess, which shoved the car of Cornett up in the air and
on top of the other cars. The wreck also
took out Grant Hedges. All drivers were
ok and a 15 minute delay took place to clean up the track. Frantz and Frank Jiovani, who moved into
second and took up the battle for the lead, were now side by side on the
restart. Rich held on for his first win
of the season, with Jiovani just edging out Selmi for second spot. Clyde McKee was fourth and Tim Moore fifth,
followed by Landon Schuster, Tadek
Stadniczuk, Arnold Kirsch, Nick Shanks and Billy Cronce.
Rich Abel sped to the win in
the 15 lap DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock B feature race. Don Roberts had a great run to take second,
Steve Theobald third, Steve Searles fourth and Matt Bunting fifth, followed by
Troy Brehmer, Chris Diovardi, Joe Haener, Rick Bennett and Larry
Smouthers. Stadniczuk set fast time for
the 33 car field at 13:589, while Searles led the B cars with a lap of
14:237. Schuster, Lilley, Cronce and
Abel were the heat race winners.
Toledo resident Jeff Wells Jr. swept the
night of action for the ARCA 4 Cylinder class by posting fast time (14:818),
winning the heat and then put the icing on the cake with a victory in the 20
lap main event. Wells worked his way to
the front of the 10 car field and used the high groove to get by leader Chris
Metdepenningen to take his first Flat Rock win of his career. Ray McClure was second, Metdpenningen third,
Brad Turner fourth and David Katafiaz fifth.
Billy Cronce III, David Price, Megan Osenbaugh, Scott Marshall and Katie
Coseo completed the top ten.
