It’s not breaking news to hear it’s cold in the Midwest today. There are wind chill warnings throughout the Great Lakes region and record-setting cold affecting over 150,000,000 people.
The ARCA world headquarters, located just north of Toledo in Temperance, Michigan is right in the middle of this record-setting polar vortex. The temperature as of 10:05 this morning? A balmy -13 degrees. With the windchill factored in, it feels like -45 to -50 degrees.

At least eight different long-standing weather records are likely to be broken in the area, with a record low temperature of -17 degrees expected tonight. The all-time record is -20 degrees, and that could be broken. It’s also expected that the area will have the lowest recorded high temperature for January 30 and 31, with the high temperature both days expected to be -2 degrees. The previous records are still chilly but above zero at -8 and -6 degrees, respectively.
Warmer temps are expected by the weekend, with a high of 50 possible on Sunday. With wind chills factored in, that would feel like a 95- to 100-degree change in temperature.
The bright side? In about ten days, the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season kicks off under what we hope will be the beautiful sunny skies of Daytona Beach, Florida. The long-term weather forecast looks great, with a pleasant 65 degrees and mostly sunny skies expected on race day.
The Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire is scheduled for February 9 and will be shown live on FS1 at 4:30 pm ET. ARCA for Me members will have free live timing & scoring, live chat, and live track updates throughout practice, qualifying, and the race.
