Daytona Countdown: 10 – Parker Kligerman

With 66 years of history in the books, and another year’s worth ready to be written, the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has been the launching point for many racing careers.

Many of those whose careers have been kickstarted in ARCA have gone on to do great things on the race track as drivers, or in the pits as crew chiefs, over-the-wall crew members, or in the garage area or race shop as engineers and mechanics.

One ARCA graduate has mixed on-track success with another type of racing career: television analyst.

Parker Kligerman parlayed a nine-win rookie season in 2009 into opportunities into all three of NASCAR’s top national series. He’s a two-time winner in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series, and when not behind the wheel on the race track he’s a studio and at-track analyst for NASCAR on NBC. Additionally, he co-hosts “Proving Grounds” on NBCSN with Sam Smith and Leh Keen. The show, now in its second season, is a fun take on the traditional new car review show.

Driving for Briggs Cunningham and Kerry Scherer, Kligerman finished second in the 2009 ARCA Racing Series standings to Justin Lofton and was named the series rookie of the year. He returned to the organization in 2016 and scored his tenth career win on the road course at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

He recently tested for Chad Bryant Racing at Daytona, where he ended up 14th overall with a lap at 181.748 miles per hour. Kligerman hasn’t announced his racing schedule yet for 2019, but expects another partial season in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Trucks along with his televison duties. As for another run or two in the ARCA Racing Series? As they say on TV, stay tuned.

The first official track activity of the season will come on Thursday, February 7 when the teams receive two hours of practice starting at 4 pm ET. There will be another hour of practice on Friday, February 8 starting at 9:30 am ET followed by General Tire Pole Qualifying at 3:30 pm ET. The green flag will wave over the expected 40-car field in the Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire at 4:30 pm ET on Saturday, February 9.
