Weekend Wrap: Keselowski Wins at Atlanta

Former Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski scored his first win of the 2019 Cup Series season by taking charge late in the day and driving off to victory in Sunday’s Folds of Honor/Quik Trip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Keselowski, son of 1989 ARCA Menards Series champion Bob Keselowski, led the final 33 laps on the way to his 28th career Cup Series win. He finished ahead of 2017 series champion Martin Truex, Jr., who earned his first top-five finish for Joe Gibbs Racing, Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick, and Clint Bowyer.

Keselowski does not have an ARCA Menards Series win on his resume, and only has a trio of series starts, but he is a former ARCA Late Model feature winner at Toledo Speedway.

Three-time ARCA Menards Series winner Kyle Busch finished sixth, 2013 Berlin winner Erik Jones was seventh, Aric Almirola was eighth, 2012 series champion Chris Buescher finished ninth, and Daniel Suarez rounded out the top ten.

Other ARCA Menards Series winners in the field included Kyle Larson in 12th, Ryan Newman in 13th, Paul Menard in 14th, Alex Bowman in 15th, David Ragan in 16th, Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. in 18th, Chase Elliott in 19th, Joey Logano in 23rd, 2011 series champion Ty Dillon in 25th, Corey LaJoie in 29th, Parker Kligerman in 30th, and Michael McDowell in 37th.

All told there were 16 former ARCA Menards Series winners in the field.

The Cup Series returns to action next weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, live on Fox Sports.
