Several More ARCA Menards Series Drivers Test at Five Flags Ahead of March 9 ARCA Pensacola 200

Several more ARCA Menards Series drivers and teams tested at Five Flags Speedway in preparation for next Saturday’s ARCA Pensacola 200 at the legendary half-mile banked oval.

One driver making laps, Bret Holmes (No. 23 Holmes II Excavation/Southern States Bank Chevrolet), has plenty of experience at Five Flags Speedway. In fact, he’s a former pro late model champion with several wins at the track under his belt.

For Holmes, a chance to get back to racing at Five Flags Speedway has been high on his priority list for the last couple of years.

” I’ve been wanting to come back to Five Flags for a one-off Late Model event for a while, but it just never did materialize,” Holmes said. “When I found out the ARCA Menards Series was coming here, I was elated.

“Our car has good speed, and we’re continuing to tweak on it to find even more,” he continued. “We feel like we’ll be in good shape come race day.”

Holmes has laps at Five Flags and a lot of experience in the ARCA Menards Series, which put him ahead of the game with the other two drivers testing at the track at the same time.

Kaden Honeycutt (No. 38 Honeycutt Racing Ford) has previous late model experience at the speedway, but instead of two full season’s worth of experience in the ARCA Menards Series, like Holmes has, he has two races’ worth. Honeycutt made his series debut last fall at Salem Speedway and followed it with his second career start at Lucas Oil Raceway. He was impressive in both despite problems ending his day early.

“These cars drive way different than my Super Late Model here at Five Flags, but we’re feeling good about where we are,” Honeycutt said. “We’re excited to get back on the track and racing, and we’re looking forward to March 9th.”

Carson Hocevar (No. 28 Scott’s/Berger Chevrolet/KBR Development Chevrolet) was part of a two-car effort at the test by the KBR Development team, alongside teammate Raphael Lessard. Hocevar was please with his team’s progress throughout the day.

“Our test went really well, KBR brought two really fast race cars here today,” Hocevar said. “Both Raphael (Lessard) and myself have been working on long run speed and I feel like we’ll be in good shape on raceday.”
