Jason (“Red”) Morris, long time over-the-wall crew member for Don Fike’s No. 27 RFMS Racing ARCA Menards Series team, was killed in a highway accident on I-75 in northwest Ohio Friday night, March 14, 2019. According to the Bowling Green Sentinel-Tribune, Morris’ car left the highway, struck a median cable barrier and came to rest on the shoulder of the highway, and when he got out of his vehicle to check the damage he was struck by another vehicle.
Morris, his wife and son were returning home from a sports event at the time of the accident.
Morris, 43, from Morrow, Ohio near Cincinnati, had been a fixture with the RFMS team for the past six years. He served as the team’s rear tire changer. He worked both races to date in 2019, contributing to the team’s consecutive top-10 finishes of eighth at Daytona and tenth at Pensacola, and elevating driver Travis Braden to second place in current point standings.
Jason is survived by his beloved wife Julia, and children Isabelle and Logan, siblings Justin, Jonathan, and Jennifer Morris, and parents Dianna Burgun and Robert Morris.
Visitation is Friday, March 29, 2019 at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home, 11365 Springfield Pike, Springdale, Ohio 45246 at 10 A.M., followed by services at 1 P.M. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.The family asks that contributions be made to the funeral home.
