BRISTOL, Tenn. — Sam Mayer has put the K&N Pro Series East field on notice.
The 15-year-old laid down a 15.053-second lap around Bristol Motor Speedway, topping the charts on Saturday.
Mayer’s quick lap came on his eighth lap in the second session (30 minutes). He also was quickest in the first session (15.469 seconds), coming on his 41st of 42 laps.
“We still don’t really know where the race line is going to be, whether or not it’s going to be on the top or the bottom,” Mayer said after the first practice. “Right now I feel like the top is definitely better. Xfinity and Cup were up there, we were up there. Definitely feels good to be on top, so hopefully we can stay on top.”
