BRISTOL, Tenn. — Fans in attendance on Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway saw the first installment of The Sam Mayer Show.

After setting the quickest time in both K&N Pro Series East practice sessions, the 15-year-old from Franklin, Wisconsin laid down a sub-15 second lap and earned his first career series pole award for Saturday’s Zombie Auto 150.

His GMS Racing No. 21 Chevrolet blistered around the World’s Fastest Half-Mile in an astounding 14.978 seconds, a new track record in the K&N Pro Series.

“When we unloaded, we were pretty free,” Mayer said of his day. “We had to come in and make pretty big swings. Once we got that done, we didn’t change much. We were just focusing on line to a tee and getting everything ready.”
