Visconti Motorsports will be back at the race track next weekend, albeit with a new driver.
Parker Retzlaff, a 15-year-old Rhinelander, Wisconsin, native, will make his NASCAR K&N Pro Series debut at Memphis International Raceway in the No. 74 Chevrolet.
Under the Visconti Motorsports banner, the partnership is a collaboration between Chad Finley Racing, VMS and Bruce Cook Technologies. Cook is the crew chief on the No. 74.
“We feel like we have a very good prospect going forward with him,” John Visconti III said. “He‘s great socially, a great driver. He needs to learn these K&N cars a little bit because they‘re heavier. But we see a future with him. Going forward, we feel like he‘s going to be a great addition to our program and I believe they‘re going to be with us for a long time.”
Retzlaff began racing at age seven and moved up to asphalt and dirt tracks at age 12. He finished sixth in the Midwest Truck Series points standings last season and was the 2017 Rookie of the Year in the E3 Spark Plugs Triple Crown Series while finishing second in the standings. Earlier this March, he started eighth but failed to finish in a super late model for Chad Finley Racing at Myrtle Beach Speedway.
At Memphis, Retzlaff will bring new sponsor Ponsse, a Finland-based company that manufactures and markets a range of forestry vehicles and machinery such as forwarders and harvesters. The Reichert Group will also be on the No. 74.
Coming into 2019, Visconti Motorsports was planning to run a partial schedule. Going forward, that plan remains the same. However, the only races the organization is planing to miss will be at Iowa and Thompson.
Retzlaff will also race at Gateway and Watkins Glen, and Brandon McReynolds, the teams driver for the past couple seasons, will race at Bristol, New Hampshire twice and the season finale at Dover.
The Memphis 150 presented by AutoZone will take place on June 1 from Memphis International Raceway.
