MILLINGTON, Tenn. — Watch out: Mad Max coming through.
The driver of the No. 1 was P1 when group qualifying for the Memphis 150 Presented by AutoZone at Memphis International Raceway concluded. The Mooresville, North Carolina native’s 23.300-second lap was good enough to earn him his first career pole award.
“We had a really fast mock run yesterday and knew we had speed,” he said of his Hattori Racing Enterprises Toyota. “We had another one today and didn’t really have any. We kind of went back to what we ran yesterday and it worked for us. Pushed it pretty hard there, gave it all I had and it worked out for us. Hopefully we’ve got a good race car and we can keep it up front until the end.”
