START: 6th
FINISH: 3rd
Notes & Quotes:—
-Mayer started sixth and fought a loose condition early in the race. He wasn’t able to pit for tires and adjustments until the first caution on lap 112.
-The race was red flagged due to rain on lap 162. Mayer had pitted for right-side tires prior to the red flag, so he stayed out when the leaders pitted after the red, moving him up to third.
-A final caution with less than 10 to go gave Mayer the chance he need to gain track position. He restarted sixth with five laps to go. By the end he worked his way up to finished third.
-Mayer’s next event will be at World Wide Technology Raceway (formerly Gateway) on June 22 in the ARCA Racing Series.
“Pit strategy helped a lot. We struggled early on for sure, just trying to get the grip and handling of the car all together. Toward the end of the race we were a rocket ship and coming home with a top three is pretty awesome. I have to thank Chevy, GMS and Driver’s Edge Development for helping me get here and succeed.”
