On a hot and steamy afternoon at Chicagoland Speedway, Ty Majeski (No. 22 Crestliner Boats Ford) turned the fastest lap in practice for tonight’s ARCA Menards Series Bounty 150. Majeski waited until the last moments of the 90-minute session to blister the 1.5-mile tri-oval at 30.520 seconds/176.933 miles per hour. He knocked Michael Self (No. 25 Sinclair Lubricants Toyota), who turned his fast lap in the opening moments of the session, off the top of the leaderboard. Self’s fastest lap was 30.938 seconds/174.543 miles per hour.
Self led his two Venturini Motorsports teammates as Christian Eckes (No. 15 JBL Audio Toyota) was third and Harrison Burton (No. 20 Ruud Toyota) was fourth. Eckes’ quick lap was 30.959 seconds/174.424 miles per hour while Burton’s lap was 31.131 seconds/173.461 miles per hour. Riley Herbst (No. 18 Monster Energy/ORCA Coolers/Terrible Herbst/Advance Auto Parts Toyota), driving for the team which won last week at WWT Raceway, was fifth at 31.132 seconds/173.455 miles per hour.
Majeski is going for his third win of the 2019 season, and his third in his last four starts. He won at Charlotte and Pocono, and was leading on the last lap at Michigan before he ran out of fuel coming to the checkered allowing Self to sneak past and take the win.
The session was stopped only once for an incident, that being when Joe Graf, Jr. (No. 77 EAT SLEEP RACE Chevrolet) had a mechanical failure while leaving pit road. Graf spun and made contact with the inside pit wall, doing damage to the nose of his primary car. Graf was checked and released from the infield care center while his team unloaded their backup car.
Tanner Gray (No. 54 Gray Motorsports/Valvoline/Durst, Inc. Toyota), Austin Wayne Self (No. 32 Win-Tron Racing Chevrolet), Bret Holmes (No. 32 Holmes II Excavation Chevrolet), Travis Braden (No. 27 MatrixCare/Consonus Health Care/Liberty Village Ford), and Scott Melton (No. 69 Melton McFadden Insurance Agency Ford) rounded out the top ten.
General Tire Pole Qualifying is slated next for the ARCA Menards Series teams with the 20-minute timed session rolling off at 5:35 pm ET/4:35 pm CT. The Bounty 150 will go green shortly after 8 pm ET/7 pm CT and will be shown live on FS1. ARCA for Me members can follow along with every lap turned by every car exclusively at ARCARacing.com.
