Holmes Iowa Crash.jpg

Incidents Slow Iowa Practice

The first half of ARCA Menards Series practice for the Fans with Benefits 150 at Iowa Speedway were stopped three times due to on-track incidents.

Rick Clifton (No. 11 Ohio Ag/Asheville Propane Toyota) got the party started when he dropped fluid on the track that necessitated a lengthy track clean-up.

Moments later, Dick Doheny (No. 10 Extreme Kleaner/Thomas Coffee Ford) spun into the infield grass on the frontstretch. He didn’t make contact with anyone or anything and drove his car back to the garage. The caution again remained out for a lengthy period as track safety crews searched for any remnant of fluid.

On the first lap after the red flag for Doheny’s spin, Bret Holmes (No. 23 Holmes II Excavation Toyota) made hard contact with the turn four wall. Holmes’ car suffered serious damage to the right side and was towed back to the garage area. Crew chief Shane Huffman and crew are busy preparing the backup car for General Tire Pole qualifying coming up at 4:45 pm ET.

The green flag on tonight’s Fans with Benefits 150 is scheduled for shortly after 9 pm ET. The race will be shown live on MAVTV. ARCA for Me members can follow live timing & scoring at ARCARacing.com.
