Jeff Jefferson, Jerry Pitts Disbanding JPR to Form Own Race Teams

Jefferson Pitts Racing is now no more.

Owners Jeff Jefferson and Jerry Pitts, fixtures in the K&N Pro Series West for decades, announced on Wednesday they will form two separate organizations. Jefferson will remain in Naches, Washington, where JPR has operated out of, while Pitts will move to Pahrump, Nevada, according to a team release.

Jefferson’s new organization, Jefferson Racing, will set their sights on providing top-notch Super Late Models and Spears Southwest Tour Series (SRL) opportunities on the West Coast. They’ll also run full-time in the K&N Pro Series, per the release.

Jefferson, a 39-race K&N West veteran and three-time champion of the former NASCAR Northwest Series, will also continue to provide race parts, race car set-up and consultations through Jefferson Race Cars.

Pitts’ team, JP Racing, will focus on Jr. Late Model development programs, specifically at Madera (California) Speedway and the Bullring at Las Vegas (Nevada) Motor Speedway. In addition, Pitts will field Pro Late Models, California Challenge Cup Series and K&N Pro Series vehicles, per the release.

The split was amicable, as the two cited business reasons and logistics for the split.

Jefferson Pitts Racing has fielded cars in all but two races this season, winning at Sonoma Raceway with Noah Gragson.
