Andrea: Hey Bret, How’s it going?
Bret: Hey! Good, how are you?
Andrea: Good. I was just looking at past calls. It’s like it’s been a few weeks since we had time to do one of these.
Bret: Yeah that’s what I said too.
Andrea: Lots to catch up on. So what have you been up too?
Bret: Just same old same old. Just still been working hard at school. Race on the weekends like I normally do. When we get weekends off, I’ve gone to a couple of football games here at Auburn. I’m actually about to leave in an hour or two. Leave to head up to Lucas Oil Raceway and we’re testing their tomorrow.
Andrea: You are? I was going to ask if you were going to be there. Sweet!
Bret: Yeah. Yup.
Andrea: Also I might stop by myself and get some footage so I was trying to get an idea of who all would be there. So it’s good to know you’ll be there. Sweet!
Bret: Okay that’s cool.
Andrea: Yeah
Andrea: So you’re back at school, right?
Bret: We started back in middle August this semester. It will end the first week or two of December.
Andrea: Okay gotcha. What are you taking?
Bret: Right now, taking Contracting Business, Pre Construction, Project Management, Mechanical Systems, and Electrical Systems.
Andrea: Gotcha, Sounds like stuff I feel like you already do at your job. Am I wrong?
Bret: Yeah, half of it yeah from the business side. We don’t deal too much with mechanical stuff or electrical stuff. Other than that though most everything we do deal with.
Andrea: Gotcha. So, as we all know now, you won the Four Crown Championship at Salem. Did you guys do anything to celebrate?
Bret: Not really, we kind of want more than that. We wanted to win a championship this season and I think there is still a small chance of us doing that. Those other guys will probably have to fall out of the race or both races for us to do that.
Andrea: But you’re still in the running. Right, it’s going to be close.
Bret: Yeah for sure, but it was still cool to win something like that. Or have something to show how consistent we’ve been for sure. So that was nice for the whole team.
Andrea: Yeah I’m sure, where’s the plaque hanging? Is it like at your place, at the shop?
Bret: I think it’s in ARCA’s office.
Andrea: Oh do we still have it?
Bret: Yup, y’all took it away from me as soon as I got it.
Andrea: Should steal it and bring it to Indy with me for ya. Haha!
Bret: Haha yeah that would be helpful!
Andrea: So at this point in the season are you kind of looking ahead to 2020 now. Are you still just focused on what needs to be done this year and where that ends up to make your decisions for 2020.
Bret: Yeah we’ve talked about what we’re going to do for next year. I think that we have a pretty good plan as far as that goes. Still have to work a couple things out. We just touched on that really and touched bases with the team and everybody so that they know in the back of their minds what to prepare for. But we’re still focusing on these last two races that’s our base priority right now and after that we’ll start back into off season mode and start getting ready for the next season.
Andrea: Right. Because I know off season’s not actually an off season for people in the series. It’s actually probably the busiest time right?
Bret: Yeah it really is yeah.
Andrea: Right. So it’s been around five minutes…I’ll cut it a little bit short just because I know you have to travel still. Thanks for talking with me Bret!
Bret: Oh yeah no problem. Thank you for catching up.
Andrea: Of course. See you soon.
