The countdown is on to the start of the 2020 ARCA Menards Series season…
Today is December 2, 2019, giving us 68 days until the first green flag of the season on the highbanks of Daytona International Speedway.
Most people recognize the No. 69 as the traditional number of the Kimmel family, with family patriarch Bill Kimmel, Sr. earning three wins in 1978 with that number adorned to the side of his Fords.
Most would also recognize that number as his grandson Will’s, as he has driven the better part of six seasons with his grandfather’s number on the side of cars prepared by his father Bill Kimmel, Jr.
But the third-generation Kimmel spent most of the first four years of his career driving the No. 68. He scored the first top-five finish of his career, a fourth at Springfield in 2011, in the No. 68 and then set his best career finish, second at Salem just a few weeks later, also with the No. 68 on board.
The success wasn’t just limited to the short tracks and dirt miles. Kimmel then went on to finish third at Daytona in 2012, fifth on the road course at New Jersey Motorsports Park, and then another third-place run at Salem in 2013, his fifth and final top-five in the No. 68.
The ARCA Menards Series season starts with the Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 8. The race will be shown live on FS1 starting at 4:30 pm ET while ARCARacing.com will have live timing & scoring of all on-track sessions.
