The countdown is on to the start of the 2020 ARCA Menards Series season…
Today is December 5, 2019, giving us 65 days until the first green flag of the season on the highbanks of Daytona International Speedway.
There have been several notable drivers of cars carrying the number 65 in the history of the ARCA Menards Series. Most recently, the number was associated with Justin Marks and the RAB Racing team. Marks participated in the entire 2007 season for RAB, earning a pair of General Tire Pole Awards and a best finish of second at Milwaukee and Chicagoland.
Zeeland, Michigan’s Vern Slagh also carried the No. 65 on his racecars through most of his 24-race ARCA Menards Series career as a driver. Slagh also paired with legendary Michigan short tracker Fred Campbell to win at Berlin in 2002 with a car carrying the number 22. In six career starts driving for Slagh, Campbell never finished worse than ninth. While Slagh had a tougher go as a driver – he registered eleven DNFs due to accidents – he still registered some impressive runs, including a pair of fifth-place finishes at Berlin in 2000 and Winchester in 2001.
The ARCA Menards Series season starts with the Lucas Oil 200 driven by General Tire at Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, February 8. The race will be shown live on FS1 starting at 4:30 pm ET while ARCARacing.com will have live timing & scoring of all on-track sessions.
