Venturini Motorsports driver Christian Eckes will officially be crowned the ARCA Menards Series 2019 champion at the series’ annual Championship Awards Banquet on Saturday evening in Indianapolis. Eckes (No. 15 JBL Audio Toyota) is the 36th different driver in the series’ 67-year history to earn at least one series championship.
For the first time since 1995, there will be a split championship among the driver and car owner but the Venturini Motorsports team will keep both trophies. Although Eckes won the driver’s championship, co-owner Billy Venturini’s No. 20 car earned more points than any other to give him the owner’s title. It’s the first time since Andy Hillenburg won the driver’s championship and Jack Bowsher won the owner’s championship in 1995 that the two titles have been split.
Tommy Vigh, Jr. (No. 10 Extreme Kleaner Ford) is also expected to be named the series Bounty Rookie of the Year. Other special awards winners will be presented with their awards throughout the night as well.
The Championship Awards Banquet will kick off with a cocktail reception at 4 pm ET just outside the Sagamore Ballroom at the Indiana State Convention Center in downtown Indianapolis, at the close of the annual Performance Racing Industry Trade Show. At 5:15 pm, the doors to the ballroom will be opened and the evening’s festivities will begin promptly at 5:30 pm ET.
