NEW SMYRNA, Fla. — Not too bad for his first day driving a stock car.
Super late model ace Derek Griffith put his No. 2 Chad Bryant Racing Ford on the pole for the Skip’s Western Outfitters 175 at New Smyrna Speedway with an 18.673-second circuit.
Griffith said he first laid eyes on the car yesterday and it drives drastically different than what he’s used to. But after being second-quickest in practice and earning the General Tire pole, he seems to be adjusting well.
