POCONO, Pa. — Chandler Smith is making the most of his limited schedule.
The Talking Rock, Georgia, driver, who is celebrating his 18th birthday Friday, was fastest in the 45-minute practice session at Pocono Raceway for the evening’s General Tire #ANYWHEREISPOSSIBLE 200.
Smith is making his second ARCA Menards Series start of the season. He won his other start of 2020 at Phoenix Raceway in March.
Smith posted a fast lap of 54.062 seconds (166.476 mph) of his four laps around the 2.5-mile track in the No. 20 JBL Audio Toyota. His top topped the charts over Venturini Motorsports teammate Michael Self. Self, the championship points leader after three races, was second quick with a 54.335 (165.639) best among his six laps.

Tanner Gray was third quick, followed by Ty Gibbs and Derek Griffith.
Sam Mayer, Bret Holmes, Hailie Deegan, Drew Dollar and Thad Moffitt rounded out the top 10.
The starting lineup was set according to the rule book, which means the top spots were locked in by 2020 owners points. That puts Self and Gibbs on the front row, followed by Dollar and Smith, and Holmes and Moffitt in row three.
