TOLEDO, Ohio — Sam Mayer used the entire 45-minute practice session Saturday to find his best lap, and it paid off in the end with him being the fastest in the ARCA Menards Series field.
Mayer’s best lap was his 27th out 41 he ran and came in the final 10 minutes, where the No. 21 Chevy Accessories Chevrolet went around the half-mile in 16.181 seconds (111.242 mph), in preparation for the evening’s Menards.com 200 presented by SPxE.

Mayer bumped 15-year-old Taylor Gray off the top of the leaderboard. Gray wound up second in 16.203 (111.091).
Hailie Deegan also made a late burst up the speed charts and ended third at 16.242 (110.749).
Bret Holmes and Michael Self were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Thad Moffitt was sixth, followed by Ty Gibbs (who won at Toledo in June), Derek Griffith, defending race winner Chandler Smith and Giovanni Bromante.
Qualifying for the Menards.com 200 presented by SPxE is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., with the race at 8 p.m. live on MAVTV and streaming on TrackPass on NBC Gold. The race is No. 9 for the ARCA Menards Series and also the fourth round of the Sioux Chief Showdown.
