PRACTICE: Ty Gibbs Sets The Pace At Gateway

MADISON, Ill. — They had 30 minutes to shake down their cars for Saturday night’s Dutch Boy 150, but that was plenty for Ty Gibbs to show he’s fast again at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

The defending ARCA Menards Series race winner at the 1.25-mile St. Louis-area track was fastest in the brief practice session.

Gibbs piloted the No. 18 Monster Energy/Terrible Herbst/ORCA Toyota to the top of the speed charts with a lap of 33.558 seconds (134.096 mph) on the fourth of the seven laps he ran.

Michael Self, who enters the weekend leading both the ARCA Menards Series and Sioux Chief Showdown standings, was second quick at 33.620 (133.849). Sam Mayer was third at 33.889 (132.747).

Max McLaughlin was sixth, followed by Bret Holmes, Hailie Deegan, Taylor Gray and Drew Dollar.

The Dutch Boy 150 starting lineup was set by Sioux Chief Showdown owners points, which means Self and Chandler Smith will start on the front row. Smith was 11th in practice.

The Dutch Boy 150 is scheduled to run at 5 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT (MAVTV/TrackPass on NBC Gold/MRN Radio).
