QUALIFYING: Bret Holmes Earns First Career General Tire Pole Award At Lebanon I-44

LEBANON, Mo. — He already checked the box on his first career win earlier this season, and Bret Holmes added his first career General Tire Pole Award Saturday to his breakthrough 2020.

The 23-year-old Munford, Alabama, driver is making his 75th career ARCA Menards Series start in the Zinsser SmartCoat 200 (8 p.m. CT / MAVTV & TrackPass on NBC Gold).

Holmes drove the No. 23 Holmes Excavating Chevrolet around the .375-mile banked oval in 14.812 seconds 91.142 mph). He had been seventh fastest in practice.

Chandler Smith, the Sioux Chief Showdown championship points leader, was the last car to qualify and he ended up second with a lap of 14.861 (90.842).

Hailie Deegan, who was fastest in practice, qualified third at 14.880 (90.726).

Ty Gibbs and Michael Self qualified fourth and fifth, respectively.

Sam Mayer, Taylor Gray, Drew Dollar, Kris Wright and Mike Basham rounded out the top 10.

The race is the 14th on the ARCA Menards Series schedule, and the eighth of 10 in the Sioux Chief Showdown.
