TOLEDO, Ohio — Sam Mayer rolled to his first career General Tire Pole Award in the ARCA Menards Series Saturday in qualifying for the evening’s Royal Truck & Trailer 200 at Toledo Speedway.
The 17-year-old from Franklin, Ohio, qualified at 15.914 seconds (113.108 mph) in the No. 21 Lynn Family Foundation Chevrolet around the half-mile.

Mayer won the General Tire Pole at Toledo earlier this season in the ARCA Menards Series East race.
Saturday’s race counts toward both the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East championships.
Chandler Smith qualified second at 15.940 (112.923) and Hailie Deegan was third at 16.039 (112.226).
Ty Gibbs, who won the East race that Mayer earned the pole in, qualified fourth and Bret Holmes was fifth.
Taylor Gray was sixth, followed by Chase Cabre, Michael Self, Parker Retzlaff and Drew Dollar.
Smith leads Holmes by one in the ARCA Menards Series, while Mayer leads Gibbs by 13 in the East.
The Royal Truck & Trailer 200 is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET (MAVTV and TrackPass on NBC Gold).
