GMS Racing did not take long after the conclusion of the 2020 season to announce its plans for the No. 21 Chevrolet in the ARCA Menards Series East in 2021.
Jack Wood, the 20-year-old from Loomis, California, will take the wheel of the car that has won the last two East Series championships.
Contention will be the expectation for Wood this season as he drives the car Sam Mayer wheeled to not just the past two East titles, but also last season’s Sioux Chief Showdown championship.
Wood, driving for his family-owned team of Velocity Racing, notched six top-10 finishes in eight ARCA Menards Series starts last year. In 2019, he collected a pair of top 10s in six West Series starts for the same team.
Now with the backing of GMS Racing and crew chief Chad Bryant, Wood is looking for a successful, full transition to the ARCA Menards Series East.
Wood is the latest subject in our “10 Questions” series. It’s time to get to know him.
