The ARCA Menards Series West will visit seven tracks for nine races in 2021. But in only one event — Friday’s season-opening General Tire 150 at Phoenix Raceway — will West Series drivers face additional competition from ARCA Menards Series drivers.
Friday’s 150-lap race (5:30 p.m. MT / 7:30 p.m. ET, MAVTV, TrackPass) at the one-mile paved tri-oval in Avondale, Arizona, serves as the second event of the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season after last month’s opener at Daytona International Speedway.
In is the only ARCA Menards Series-ARCA Menards Series West combination race of the season. The drivers entered in the event will receive points and stats for both series.
While the West Series has a rich history at Phoenix, the ARCA Menards Series will compete at the track Friday for just the second time. The series made its Phoenix debut last spring, when Chandler Smith emerged as the winner.
The West Series raced at Phoenix last year, too, for its season finale. Friday’s race marks the first of two West Series races at Phoenix in 2021, as the series will return for its finale again in November.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
A handful of ARCA Menards Series West drivers will make their first starts of 2021 at Phoenix, including last season’s series champion.
Now 16, Jesse Love is back in the West Series full-time for Bill McAnally Racing, this time driving the team’s famed No. 16 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota. He ran the ARCA Menards Series race at Phoenix last spring and finished 16th, and in last fall’s West Series finale at the track, he clinched the title finishing 14th.
Cole Moore, who also plans to run the full West Series season for Bill McAnally Racing, is entered in the No. 99 NAPA Power Premium Plus Toyota that Gracie Trotter wheeled last year. The team has a third car in Friday’s race, the No. 19 BMR Toyota driven by 2019 West Series champion and current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Derek Kraus.
Trotter, of course, is one of three Venturini Motorsports drivers who are running at Phoenix having competed in the ARCA Menards Series opener at Daytona. Drew Dollar and Corey Heim, the latter of whom won the opener at Daytona and is pinned to run all 20 ARCA Menards Series races in 2021, are entered at Phoenix along with Trotter.
Taylor Gray, who through two ARCA Menards Series East races in 2021 has established a rivalry with Joe Gibbs Racing’s Sammy Smith, will race at Phoenix in the No. 17 Ripper Coffee Company Ford for David Gilliland Racing.
Instead of Smith, though, Gray will be racing against ARCA Menards Series regular Ty Gibbs in the No. 18 Pristine Auction Toyota. Gibbs, one of the drivers competing for the series championship in 2021, is coming off what he felt was a disappointing fourth-place finish at Daytona.
The field for the first ARCA Menards Series West race of the season also includes the familiar pair of Bob Bruncati Fords. That includes the No. 6 Sunrise Ford-Lucas Oil-Haas Development-TerraClean Ford driven by series regular Trevor Huddleston and No. 9 Sunrise Ford-Lucas Oil-Eibach-K&N Ford driven by series newcomer Jake Drew.
