Almost three months have passed since the ARCA Menards Series West began its 2021 season at Phoenix Raceway, where Ty Gibbs won a combination race with the ARCA Menards Series in March.
June is here, which means so is the first standalone West Series race of the season and the first of several summer events on the West Coast.
And the General Tire 200 at Sonoma Raceway, of course, presents unique challenges as the first of two road course races on the 2021 West Series schedule.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

At Phoenix, ARCA Menards Series West regulars like Jesse Love, Todd Souza, Trevor Huddleston and Cole Moore had to compete against ARCA Menards Series regulars like Gibbs, Corey Heim and Thad Moffitt.
Those drivers will face more non-series regulars Saturday at Sonoma.
Chase Briscoe, who competes full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series for Stewart-Haas Racing, will run the West Series race Saturday at Sonoma as practice for Sunday’s Toyota / Save Mart 350.
The 2016 ARCA Menards Series champion, Briscoe has six wins in 22 AMS starts. He also ran three West Series races in 2013. He is entered at Sonoma an the No. 14 Huffy-Parker Boats Ford for Chad Bryant.
Dylan Lupton, who dabbles in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series when he’s not racing ARCA Menards cars, is entered at Sonoma in the No. 4 Lupton Excavation Toyota for Bill McAnally Racing.
One of four BMR drivers in the field for Saturday’s race, Lupton registered one top five and two top 10s at Sonoma during the two full seasons he raced in the series in 2013 and 2014. From 2015 to 2020, Lupton made 50 starts across NASCAR’s three national levels.
Zane Smith, the full-time Truck Series driver who finished second in the 2018 ARCA Menards Series standings, will race at Sonoma in the No. 17W MadoroM Wine-Best Western Sonoma Chevrolet for Steve McGowan. Smith entered West Series race at Phoenix in March but was involved in a crash on the first lap.
