QUALIFYING: Dean Thompson wins General Tire Pole Award at All American Speedway

ROSEVILLE, Calif. — Dean Thompson may not be in contention for the 2021 ARCA Menards Series West championship, but after multiple strong runs this season, he is aiming for his first series win.

He’ll have a strong chance to get it Saturday night in the NAPA AutoCare 150 presented by Berco Redwood at All American Speedway based on how fast he was in the afternoon’s 75-minute combined practice/qualifying session.

Driving the No. 51 Thompson Pipegroup Ford, the 20-year-old from Anaheim, California, set a fast lap of 13.768 seconds around the third-mile paved oval in Roseville, California — just 0.001 seconds faster than second-place Jesse Love’s time of 13.769 seconds.

The achievement marks Thompson’s second General Tire Pole Award; he also started up front in the West Series race at Irwindale Speedway in July.

Taylor Gray, Cole Moore and Jake Drew rounded out the top five in qualifying.

The NAPA AutoCare 150 presented by Berco Redwood at All American Speedway, the eighth of nine races in the ARCA Menards Series West this season, is scheduled to take the green flag at 6:45 p.m. PT / 9:45 p.m. ET.

The race will be shown live on NBC Sports Gold’s TrackPass.
