PIT BOX: Monster Mile welcomes East Series back for General Tire 125

After a month break following the most recent race at Florida’s Five Flags Speedway, the 2022 ARCA Menards Series East season resumes Friday at Dover Motor Speedway.

The General Tire 125 at the one-mile concrete oval in Dover, Delaware, is scheduled for Friday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Friday’s race will be the 32nd visit to Dover for the East Series. Defending ARCA Menards Series champion Ty Gibbs won the most recent East Series race at the Monster Mile last season.

Tickets to Friday’s General Tire 125 are available. The race will be live streamed on FloRacing and broadcast via delay on USA Network on Friday, May 6, at 1 p.m. ET.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

General Tire 125The battle for the ARCA Menards Series East championship rolls into Dover this Friday afternoon as Taylor Gray and Sammy Smith continue their battle for supremacy.

Smith enters the General Tire 125 with the edge in the standings, as he currently holds a 12-point advantage on Gray after two races.

Smith opened the East Series season with back-to-back victories at Florida’s New Smyrna Speedway and Five Flags Speedway.

Among the other expected entries for Friday’s 125-mile race is current ARCA Menards Series points leader Rajah Caruth, who makes his first East Series start of the season for Rev Racing.

Reigning West Series champion Jesse Love will also make his first East Series start of the year for Venturini Motorsports.

Love will be joined by a trio of drivers making their Venturini Motorsports debuts. Jake Finch, who made his East Series debut at Five Flags Speedway in March, joins Venturini to pilot the No. 25 for the first of two races this year. Conner Jones makes his first start with the team in the No. 15, and Jonathan Shafer makes his ARCA platform debut in the No. 55.

Leland Honeyman, who started on the pole and finished second in the most recent East Series race at Five Flags, will make his first Dover Motor Speedway start in the No. 02 Chevrolet for Young’s Motorsports.

Other expected entries include Daniel Escoto, Christian Rose, Stephanie Moyer and more.

CREW CHIEF HANDOUT: The starting field for the General Tire 125 is limited to 26 plus provisional positions. This event will be run under the 2022 ARCA Menards Series East rules, procedures, regulations and specifications.

QUALIFYING: Starting position will be set by each car’s fastest recorded lap in the practice / qualifying session.

RACE PIT STOP: Break pitting procedure. Breaks at or near the conclusion of Lap 40 and Lap 80. No adding or moving tires to or from pit box after race has started. All cars will be required to make at least one pit stop prior to last 10 laps of race.

The maximum tire allotment available for this event is as follows: The maximum tire use at track for the event is 16. Per ARCA Rulebook, maximum number of tires allowed in pit box for use in race is eight (8).
