Track Profile: Irwindale Speedway

Irwindale Speedway is a half-mile paved oval featuring progressive banking in the corners.

In other words, the 24-year-old venue is ideal for ARCA Menards Series West racing.

Having opened in 1999, Irwindale Speedway is nestled in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley about 20 miles East of downtown Los Angeles. It is the prime destination for fans of short-track racing in Southern California.

In 2023, Irwindale is the site of two ARCA Menards Series West races. They mark the 33rd and 34th West Series races run at the track throughout its history.

Track Profile: Irwindale Speedway

Irwindale Speedway opened in 1999 as part of an effort to keep short-track racing alive and well in the Los Angeles area. The facility actually features two tracks: the banked half-mile oval used by the West Series and an interior, third-mile oval.

Irwindale can seat 6,000 people. It is currently owned and operated by Tim Huddleston, an Irwindale Speedway track champion in the Late Model division.

Irwindale Speedway has hosted at least one West Series race in every year of its existence with the exception of 2012, 2013 and 2018.

The oval tracks at Irwindale are accompanied by a drag strip, and the venue’s schedule is packed. Stock cars, sprint cars, midgets, supermodifieds, legends, trucks and more compete at the facility. Irwindale Speedway also hosts a concert series.
