Lowden-Jackson Motorsports will field a champion driver when the ARCA Menards Series West visits California’s Shasta Speedway on Saturday, July 29.
Jake Drew, the 23-year-old from Fullerton, California who won the West Series title last season driving for Sunrise Ford Racing, will pilot LJM’s No. 41 Ford on the 3/8-mile oval in the northern part of the Golden State.
Drew is a four-time West Series race winner. He scored all four of those victories during his championship run in 2022, a year in which he logged nine top fives and 10 top-10 finishes in 11 races. Drew in 2022 led the series in wins, laps led (378), average finish (3.6) and General Tire Pole Awards (four), among other statistics.
“I am thrilled to have gotten the call from Lowden-Jackson Motorsports for the opportunity to return to the ARCA Menards Series West at Shasta Speedway,” Drew said. “I look forward to working with all the team members and getting another race under my belt for the 2023 season.
“The absence of the series’ attendance at Shasta Speedway in recent years will provide a challenge to all competitors and teams, but I am confident my experience of the last two seasons — as well as the team’s effort — will provide us an opportunity of an excellent result.”
Earlier this year, Drew made his NASCAR national series debut when he drove for ThorSport Racing in the Craftsman Truck Series race at Nashville Superspeedway on June 23. He finished 12th after starting 24th in the No. 66 Ford.
Lowden-Jackson Motorsports, owned and operated by Chris Lowden and Tony Jackson, scored its first win as an organization this year when driver Tyler Reif took the checkered flag at Phoenix Raceway in the West Series season-opener on March 10.
Lowden himself has seven West Series starts on his resume dating back to 2020. Now the driver-turned-owner focuses on fielding cars in both the ARCA Menards Series East and West for drivers Reif, R.J. Smotherman and, now, Drew.
Jackson will serve as Drew’s crew chief at Shasta.
The race on July 29 (8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET on FloRacing) will mark the first at Shasta under the ARCA Menards Series banner. Previously known as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, the series has competed at Shasta 14 times since 1967. The latest of those events came in 2015, well before the West Series transitioned to the ARCA platform in 2020.
The West Series race at Shasta on July 29 will be shown live on FloRacing starting at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. Additionally, CNBC will air a delayed broadcast of the event on Aug. 12 starting at 2 p.m. ET.
