Less than 48 hours after tackling the two-mile Michigan International Speedway, ARCA Menards Series teams will transition over to the historic Springfield Mile located at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
Constructed back in 1910, the Springfield Mile is one of the most historic motorsports venues across the United States. Along with hosting copious open-wheel and USAC events, the Springfield Mile has served as one of two dirt tracks currently on the ARCA Menards Series schedule since 1983.
The first checkered flag at the Springfield Mile belonged to Dean Roper, who would later add two more wins at the facility during the 1980s. Several other notable names have visited the Springfield Mile’s Victory Lane over the years such as Bob Keselowski, Bobby Bowsher, Tim Steele, Frank Kimmel, Justin Allgaier and Kevin Swindell.
Winning at the Springfield Mile will require both physical and mental discipline for ARCA Menards Series teams who will be fresh off 100 grueling laps at Michigan, but momentum and prestige are both on the line for those who can master the facility’s technical layout.
Tickets to the Springfield ARCA 100 are available here. Below is everything you need to know ahead of Sunday afternoon’s race.
Springfield ARCA 100 at Illinois State Fairgrounds
Four women will make up the five-car armada that Venturini Motorsports is bringing to the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
Along with full-time competitors Toni Breidinger and Amber Balcaen, Isabella Robusto is set to test her skills on a dirt track Sunday afternoon. Robusto has impressed in limited starts with Venturini Motorsports this year, which included nearly winning at Irwindale Speedway in July before suffering a flat tire while leading in the closing laps.
Joining the other ladies in a Venturini Motorsports car for the Springfield ARCA 100 on Sunday is dirt standout Taylor Reimer, who will pilot the No. 55 BuzzBallz Toyota. Reimer is looking to improve upon an eighth place finished she obtained in her ARCA Menards Series debut at the Springfield Mile last year.
Everybody in the field will have to deal with William Sawalich as he pursues a third consecutive ARCA Menards Series victory. Dirt racing is not an extensive part of Sawalich’s background, but he managed to keep his car in one piece at both dirt events in 2023 by bringing home a pair of fifth place performances.
Other names set to compete at the Springfield Mile include dirt track veteran Kelly Kovski, along with Dale Quarterley, Sean Corr, Bryce Haugeberg, Cody Dennison and Brayton Laster, among others.
The complete entry list for the Springfield ARCA 100 will be released later this week.
