PIT BOX: Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway welcomes back ARCA Menards Series West for second race of 2025

For the second and final time in the 2025 season, ARCA Menards Series West competitors will venture to Bakersfield, California to compete at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway this Saturday during the NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by the West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame (7 p.m. ET / 10 p.m. PT on FloRacing).

Built as a replacement to Mesa Marin Raceway in 2013, it hasn’t taken long for Kern to become a hub for short track racing on the West Coast. The West Series held its first race at Kern a year after the facility opened to the public and has since remained a staple on the calendar, hosting at least one race each season except for 2021.

Kern hosted the West Series season-opener in January, a race that produced one of the most thrilling finishes in recent history. Trevor Huddleston found himself playing defense against Kyle Keller during the closing laps, ultimately fending him off to win at his family-operated facility for the first time.

Many of the same competitors from this year’s opener, including Huddleston, are back at Kern this weekend seeking to earn a crucial, mid-season victory. Just like in January, tire conservation and patience will be imperative for competitors if they wish to be at the front of the field when the checkered flag waves.

Tickets to the NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by the West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame can be purchased here. Below is everything to know ahead of the fifth race on the 2025 ARCA Menards Series West calendar.

Trevor Huddleston’s triumph at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway in January is one of many reasons why he currently holds the ARCA Menards Series West points lead.

A seasoned West Series veteran with 81 starts and five victories to his name, Huddleston’s best finish in the standings is third, which he achieved in 2023 and 2024. Huddleston is in a prime position to finally become a West Series champion, but faces a slim margin of error with the top five in the standings separated by just 11 points.

Tanner Reif, who is second in West Series points, is the only other driver in the top-five who has a victory this year besides Huddleston, which came at Tucson Speedway. Reif’s best performance in three prior Kern starts was his third-place effort in the January season-opener, something he will look to improve upon so he can take control of the standings.

Eric Johnson Jr. and Kyle Keller, who sit third and fourth in points respectively, both nearly earned their first career West Series victory this year in similar fashion. Just like how Keller battled Huddleston at Kern in January, Johnson found himself in an intense late-race duel with Reif and Jake Bollman at Tucson, but ultimately settled for second.

For fifth-place points driver Robbie Kennealy, this weekend’s race at Kern will be a family affair. Not only is Kennealy’s older brother Joey set to make his season debut in a third car for Jan’s Towing Racing, but his twin sister Harley will serve as an assistant crew chief on Joey’s No. 9 Ford.

Other drivers competing at Kern include Bollman, the most recent West Series winner at Colorado, along with Jaron Giannini, Buddy Shepherd, P.J. Pedroncelli and Andrew Chapman.

The complete entry list for the NAPA Auto Parts 150 presented by West Coast Stock Car Motorsports Hall of Fame at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway will be released later this week.
