Connor Mosack makes the most of a rare ARCA start with a victory at Chicagoland Speedway

JOLIET, Ill. — Connor Mosack doesn’t get to race in the ARCA Menards Series as much as he used to, but when he does, he makes the most of it.

Mosack, making his second start of the season in Pinnacle Racing Group’s No. 28 Chevrolet, led the final 71 laps of Friday’s Ashley Furniture 150 at Chicagoland Speedway to register the third ARCA Menards Series victory of his career.

Friday’s race marked the first ARCA event at Chicagoland Speedway since 2019.

Anytime Mosack can race in the ARCA Menards Series, he does it with the Pinnacle Racing Group. The team is co-owned by his stepfather, Mark Webb, making each victory he earns with the team just a little more memorable.

“It always means a lot to win with these guys and to see where they’ve come from the last few years,” Mosack said. “It’s always fun racing with these guys; they make my job a lot easier out here with these kind of cars.”

The 27-year-old from Charlotte, North Carolina started sixth after qualifying was canceled due to a passing storm earlier in the afternoon. By the second caution of the evening, he was up to fourth and looking for an opportunity to pounce on the leaders.

That opportunity presented itself shortly after the second restart on Lap 30, when he took polesitter Thomas Annunziata and Pinnacle Racing Group teammate Lanie Buice three wide for the lead off Turn 4.

Mosack took his No. 28 Chevrolet to the bottom and roared past both drivers to take the lead for the first and final time.

“We finally got one where we didn’t have any late cautions at the end. Kept waiting on one there at the end,” Mosack said. “Thank you to the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation. I think this is their first win at the national level, so I’m happy to get one for them and my PRG guys.”

Buice was able to move past Annunziata after the halfway break and drove to a career-best runner-up finish in the No. 77 Pinnacle Racing Group Chevrolet.

Not only did Buice’s finish give Pinnacle Racing Group a one-two finish in Friday’s event at Chicagoland, but it also allowed her to tie the ARCA Menards Series record for best finish by a female competitor.

She joins Isabella Robusto, Hailie Deegan, Erin Crocker and Shawna Robinson as female drivers to finish runner-up in ARCA Menards Series competition.

“It’s such a blessing to be able to work with the Pinnacle Racing Group,” Buice said. “My No. 77 group is just incredible, and Kevin Reed Jr. always brings a fast car to the race track. All the way around, just super grateful for them and the hard work they put in and the fast car they bring me to the race track.

“We worked really hard for this. As a team we work hard together. The relationship is awesome, and we’re ready to go get us one.”

Landon S. Huffman, making his second ARCA Menards Series start, finished third aboard the No. 9 Chevrolet for CR7 Motorsports. Daniel Dye and Annunziata completed the top five.

Jade Avedisian, Andy Jankowiak, Jake Bollman, Jason Kitzmiller and Kyle Steckly were sixth through 10th, respectively.

The ARCA Menards Series gets right back on track next Friday, July 10 with the running of the Lime Rock Park ARCA 100 at Connecticut’s Lime Rock Park. Racing gets underway at 4 p.m. ET on FS2.
