PIT BOX: Iowa Speedway to serve as pivotal chapter in two tight ARCA championship battles

The JR&CO 150 at Iowa Speedway has the potential to be a turning point for those vying for titles in the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards Series East.

While there are still seven races remaining in the national ARCA Menards Series season, Friday marks the penultimate event for East Series competitors. With Iowa and the finale at Bristol Motor Speedway being combination events, more pressure will be placed on the East Series title contenders as they look to sustain momentum against stacked fields.

Iowa presents its own unique set of challenges for competitors to manage. Although the complex ostensibly bares many similarities to the short track of Richmond Raceway, Iowa’s 0.875-mile layout races like an intermediate, meaning drivers will have to search for clean air this weekend by using one of the many available grooves.

As one of the newer tracks in the United States, having only been open since 2006, Iowa has already produced many memorable moments for the ARCA Menards Series platform. Another iconic chapter could very well be written Friday evening with so much on the line for two separate ARCA Menards Series divisions.

JR&CO 150 at Iowa Speedway

Following his triumph at Flat Rock Speedway on Saturday evening, Max Reaves extended his advantage to seven points in the ARCA Menards Series East standings.

Reaves only has a small margin of error to work with as he prepares to make his first ARCA Menards Series platform start at Iowa Speedway on Friday. Iowa has been a solid track for Reaves’ team Joe Gibbs Racing before, but the program has not won an ARCA Menards Series event there since Brandon Jones did so in 2022.

With Reaves possessing no prior experience at Iowa, Tristan McKee will look to capitalize on the opportunity at hand. McKee opened the 2026 East Series campaign in commanding fashion by winning three of the first four races, but an early crash at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park now has him on offense with two events remaining.

The national ARCA Menards Series championship battle is even closer than that of the East Series, as Jake Bollman leads his Nitro Motorsports teammate Thomas Annunziata by just three points in the standings. Bollman’s consistency has kept him atop the ARCA Menards Series standings all year, though his lead has shrunk in recent weeks.

Annunziata managed to secure his first victory of the 2026 national ARCA Menards Series season at Lime Rock Park in July, allowing him to further close the gap on Bollman. With a runner-up finish at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park the following race, Annunziata finds himself with momentum heading into Iowa.

Plenty of talented drivers are set to mix it up with the title contenders across the national ARCA Menards Series and the East Series. Among them is McKee’s Pinnacle Racing Group teammate Carson Brown, who is set to embark on a busy weekend that will include his NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series debut at Iowa the following day.

Other names competing at Iowa on Friday include Jade Avedisian, Gavan Boschele, Isaac Kitzmiller, Andy Jankowiak, Ty Frederickson and Jackson McLerran.

RACE FACTS:

CREW CHIEF HANDOUT: Field limited to 28 starters, plus provisionals (EIRI). This event will be run under the 2026 ARCA Menards Series rules, procedures, regulations and specifications.

QUALIFYING: Starting position will be set by each car’s fastest recorded lap per the Timed Sessions Qualifying Procedure. No unauthorized adjustments or repairs may be made on car after passing pre-qualifying inspection. All cars must make a qualifying attempt; all drivers must practice before they can qualify (EIRI).

RACE PIT STOP: Break pit stop procedure. Breaks at or near laps 50 and 100. No adding or moving tires to or from pit box once race has started.

TIRE ALLOTMENT: Per ARCA Rulebook, the maximum tire use at track (total, ‘from home’ plus purchased at track) for the event is 14.
