Can Heroes(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - February 10, 2011) - Last week, the Hamilton Spectator in Ontario featured the exploits of several Canadian military members who will participate with Peterson Motorsports in this weekend's Lucas Oil Slick Mist 200 at Daytona International Speedway.

The group will work for Peterson's No. 06 Chevrolet, scheduled to be driven by Barry Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald is one of six drivers entered to have led a lap at Daytona in ARCA competition.

An excerpt from the article follows:

Headed by Hamilton’s Chris Ecklund and his Canadian Heroes, an organization devoted to the recognition of Canada’s military men and women, Ecklund has arranged for the military men to be a part of the Peterson Motorsports Racing team in the ARCA race, as part of his effort to build a race car team headed by Canadians, with a strong emphasis in acknowledging the military men and women of Canada.

“I’m pretty excited about all this,” said Ecklund earlier this week. “We are trying to build a foundation, which will be more than just racing,” adding that there is lots of behind the scenes work with promotion and education.

It's great to see Peterson Motorsports pick up sponsorship.
