No wonder he's smiling; Gallagher Motorsports taps Williams to wheel the 23 car at Winchester
(MOORESVILLE, N.C. - June 26, 2013) - Yet another incredible story, one of several to choose from, is continuing to develop over the 2013 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season.

Without the necessary resources to run the complete 2013 tour in his own family-owned No. 02 Southwest Florida Cable Construction Ford, Josh Williams, like a cat with nine lives, continues to land on his feet.

As it turns out, Williams got a call from Gallagher Motorsports, and thus another great opportunity has come to fruition for the Port Charlotte, Florida driver, who just happens to be hanging on in sixth in championship point standings, and only 30 points away from fifth place drive Mason Mitchell.

Officials from Gallagher Motorsports and Allegiant Travel announced today that the 19-year-old Williams will fill in for Spencer Gallagher in the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet for this Sunday's running of the Herr's Chase The Taste 200 at Winchester Speedway.

"I cannot begin to thank everyone at Allegiant Travel and Gallagher Motorsports, including Spencer (Gallagher) for this amazing opportunity to drive the No. 23 Chevrolet,"Williams said. "Spencer is a great friend of mine and I wish him a speedy and safe recovery. We miss him at the track each week. I am really looking forward to getting to Winchester (Speedway) this weekend and getting a chance to work with all of these great Gallagher Motorsports guys. They put out a fantastic product each week."

Gallagher, who was originally slated to run this weekend's Winchester race, is still recovering from a vestibular concussion he received during a lap-72 wreck earlier in the month at Michigan International Speedway. Heeding his doctor's advice, Gallagher will continue with the outlined recovery plan by resting at his Mooresville, N.C., home this weekend. Along with an upcoming two-week gap in the ARCA Racing schedule following Winchester, Gallagher has hopes of returning to the seat July 21 at Chicagoland Speedway for the Ansell ActivArmr 150.

Williams has been a common sight in the ARCA garage since making his debut in 2010 with his family-operated Josh Williams Racing No. 02 team. Making the best of a limited-budget and partial schedule, Williams constantly finds himself battling inside the top-10 each week with the best drivers and teams. His consistent drive and determination only helped to cement Gallagher Motorsports' decision earlier in the week while scouting out potential replacement drivers.williamscar17elko.jpg

In addition to his own team, Williams has already filled in for variety of teams this year including Kimmel Racing, Roulo Brothers Racing, and now Gallagher Motorsports. His opportunity with Roulo Brothers Racing in the No. 17 Ford started out as a ‘start and park' at Elko Speedway. However, as the race developed, Williams continued to press inside the top-five, all the while waiting for the radio call to come in from crew chief Gary Roulo to bring the car in. The call never came. So impressed with his effort, the Roulo Brothers - Gary and Russ - decided to take on the expense and let Williams ride it out. Without a mark on the car, and careful not to wrinkle up arguably the best car he had ever sat it, Williams brought it home in sixth position on the lead lap. Sweet!

Both Williams and Gallagher earned top-10 finishes last year during their first outing at the half-mile, high-banked oval in Winchester, Ind. Gallagher Motorsports will bring chassis No. 971 to the event, a Race City Chassis in which Gallagher finished a career-best second at Salem Speedway in late April.

Dave Hirsch Quote, Crew Chief of the No. 23 Allegiant Travel Chevrolet:

"Everyone at Gallagher Motorsports is pleased to welcome Josh (Williams) into our racing family and we sincerely appreciate his help while Spencer (Gallagher) continues to recover. Josh is an extremely talented young man who has shown what he can do behind the wheel of a race car. I believe his positive attitude and never-give-up attitude will take him far in his racing career and we all look forward to working with him this weekend."
